Guy Has to Call Friend To Shoot the Fish He’s Reeling In
Whether Brent Crawford has captured the world’s largest alligator gar will never be known — his scale bottomed out emphatically at 300 pounds and he filleted the prehistoric-looking fish after attempting to obtain its weight.
But this much is clear: The gar Crawford landed while bow-fishing recently in Texas’ Lake Corpus Christi is among the largest specimens ever captured — and it was captured in a manner like no other gar captured beforehand.
(The largest-known alligator gar caught while bow-fishing weighed 365 pounds. The largest caught on rod and reel weighed 279 pounds.)
Crawford, who has lived on the lake for 20 years, was alerted to the presence of several giant gar in a wide canal feeding into the lake: an enormous female swimming with about five smaller males.
His reaction, according to the Corpus Christi Caller Times, was simply: “Oh goodness. That fish right there was worth chasing.”
The newspaper’s outdoors columnist, David Sikes, produced a detailed account of what transpired next.

Hana Tsun Nose Straightener
Nasal support beauty clip
Do you have a complex about your nose? Then reach for the Hana Twin Nose, a much cheaper alternative to plastic surgery and it doesn’t hurt either! The makers reckon that 20 minutes per day is enough to strength and straighten your nose to help you achieve that perfect nasal profile you so desire!
“Hana” means nose in Japanese, while “tsun” means to perk or stick up, just like a nose should (physically, not metaphorically!). After slipping this clip gently into your nostrils, the supports on either side will help balance and push up the bones and contours of your nose, so it has an overall sharper, straighter shape, less round and more graceful.

Woman Sues Little Leaguer
Back in May of 2010, Matthew Migliaccio, a catcher in the Manchester Little League, was helping a pitcher warm up during a bullpen session. Matt’s father, Bob Migliaccio, says one of his son’s warm-up throws got away from him and struck Elizabeth Lloyd, the mother of a teammate, in the face.
“Mrs. Lloyd was sitting on the top of the bench and the ball came over the fence and hit her,” said Bob.
Bob says his son, who was 11 at the time, ran over to check on Lloyd who he says claimed to be okay.
“A few weeks later she came to a game and the team gave her flowers,” said Bob. “Matt went up to her and formally apologized and she said again, ‘I’m fine Matt, I know you didn’t do anything wrong.’”

Overspending Prompts Nobel Prize Payout Cuts
The weak global economy has claimed a new victim—the Nobel Foundation. It has been announced that lower than expected returns on investments over the past decade have made it necessary for the organization to cut the prize money awarded to Nobel laureates by 20 percent. The foundation is also looking for ways to cut administrative costs as well as expenses related to the Nobel Prize celebrations, as overspending in these areas is also a concern.

BELLEFONTE, Pa. (AP) — Jerry Sandusky was convicted Friday of sexually assaulting 10 boys over 15 years, a swift and emphatic end to a case that shattered Penn State University’s Happy Valley image and brought down Hall of Fame football coach Joe Paterno.
Sandusky, a 68-year-old retired defensive coach who was once Paterno’s heir apparent, was found guilty of 45 of 48 counts and is almost certain to spend the rest of his life in prison.
The jury of seven women and five men, including nine with ties to Penn State, deliberated more than 20 hours over two days.
Sandusky showed little emotion as the verdict was read. Judge John Cleland revoked his bail and ordered him taken to the county jail to await sentencing in about three months.
Sandusky half-waved toward his family in the courtroom as the sheriff led him away. Outside, he calmly walked to a sheriff’s car with his hands cuffed in front of him.
The accuser known in court papers as Victim 6 broke down in tears upon hearing the verdicts, and a prosecutor embraced him and said, “Did I ever lie to you?”
The man, now 25, testified that Sandusky called himself the “tickle monster” in a shower assault. He declined to comment to a reporter afterward, but his mother said: “Nobody wins. We’ve all lost.”

College Board Administers the First SAT Exam (This day in 1926)
The SAT is a standardized test used in college admissions in the US. Developed by Carl Brigham, a Princeton psychologist who worked on the US Army’s IQ test, the first Scholastic Aptitude Test was administered in 1926 to over 8,000 test-takers—60% of whom were male. Criticized as being biased toward whites, males, and the middle class, the exam has been modified over the years to improve fairness. Still, its value as a predictor of success in college is debated. What does “SAT” stand for today?
